Voters still have options for weighing in on Proposition 50 if they haven’t dropped their ballot in the mail already.

With only one choice before voters in the statewide special election Tuesday, Del Norte County Clerk-Recorder Alissia Northrup said she has consolidated polling places for the county’s 19 precincts. If people are still not sure where to go, they can visit the Del Norte County Elections Office at 981 H Street, Suite 160 in Crescent City, Northrup said.

For precincts Nos. 1, 2 and 3, the polling place is the Del Norte County Courthouse, 450 H Street in Crescent City.

The polling place for precincts Nos. 4, 5, 6 and 7 is the Masonic Lodge, 250 9th Street in Crescent City.

Voters in Smith River — precincts 8 and 9 — should visit Howonquet Hall Community Center, 101 Indian Court for their polling location.

Voters in precinct 10 will visit Hiouchi Community Fellowship Church, 105 Sunkist Lane in Hiouchi.

Precinct Nos. 11 and 15 the polling place is Fort Dick Bible Church, 6725 Lake Earl Drive.

The polling place for precinct No. 12 is Gasquet Bible Church, 1340 Gasquet Flat Road.

The polling place for precincts No. 13, 14 and 16 is the Crescent Fire Protection Building, 255 W. Washington Boulevard.

Precincts No. 17 and 19 will vote at the Crescent City Harbor District, 101 Citizens Dock Road.

And the precinct for Klamath-area voters — precinct No. 18 — is the Klamath Community Center, 219 Salmon Boulevard.

If approved, Proposition 50, the Election Rigging Response Act, would use new “legislatively drawn” congressional district maps from the 2026 midterm election until the California Citizens Redistricting Commission creates new maps following the 2030 census.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom proposed allowing the state legislature to redraw Congressional district maps after the Texas State Legislature approved a new redistricting plan in August that would result in five more seats for Republicans.

Under the new maps, Del Norte, Humboldt, Marin, Shasta, Siskiyou and Modoc counties, and parts of Mendocino and Sonoma counties, would be parts of Congressional District 2, currently represented by Congressman Jared Huffman.
