Position Description
The Media Producer & Youth Media Mentor supports youth development through hands-on media creation and instruction. This role combines content production with mentoring and teaching youth participants skills in video, audio, and digital editing across multiple media formats.

Key Responsibilities
Media Production
- Produce and assist with video, audio, and digital media content for community-focused projects
- Support production workflows including planning, recording, editing, and publishing content once approved by the News Director
- Assist interns in creating media projects such as short videos, podcasts, interviews, and multimedia stories
- Maintain organized digital files in raw and edited format and platforming them when approved from the News Director or the Executive Director.
- Assist News Director with updating and maintaining ai policy as technology and ai ability changes
Youth Mentorship & Instruction
- Teach youth basic to intermediate skills in:
- Video recording and cinematography
- Audio recording and sound editing
- Editing software for video, audio, and digital media
- Video recording and cinematography
- Model professionalism, inclusivity, and respect
Program Support
- Help prepare work for presentation, broadcast, publication and platforming
- Collaborate with News Director on story ideas and projects
- Projects include research, graphics, editing, videography, meeting and event attendance and coverage, photo journalism assignments and other special project as assigned by the News Director
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Completion of the Youth Media & Journalism Intern Program or equivalent experience in media, journalism, or digital content creation
- Experience creating media across multiple formats (video, audio, digital, or social media)
- Working knowledge of media production and editing tools (software and basic equipment)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Interest in community engagement, news and storytelling
- Familiarity with multiple editing platforms (video and audio)
- Basic knowledge of storytelling, journalism, or media ethics

Work Schedule & Format
- Schedule: Part time and full time
- Location: In-person and hybrid
- Hours includes evenings or weekends
